  20. The 32bit bus of the 040 is the problem. Unlike the 030 it cannot adapt
  21. to 16bit or 8bit peripherals or memory itself but needs an external
  22. multiplexer. This external logic slows down cycles. However, modern
  23. gate arrays are fast enough for the A3000/A4000 motherboard. But the
  24. A3640, being an ancient design, uses PALs and discrete driver chips.
